The entertainment industry internationally is currently going through a period of change with less emphasis being placed on record sales and more on performances as a source of income for artiste. It is based on this reality that two of Jamaica’s most successful publicists have teamed up to form RH Bookings.
The new company which officially launched its operations on Monday, April 4th 2011 is headed by Nesta of Nesta Publicity and Heike Wollenweber of Axe-s Media and will offer international and local booking services to reggae and dancehall artistes as well as other talented individuals in the music and entertainment industry.
The venture which came out of the desires of both publicists to contribute more the Jamaican music industry has been long in coming as plans were laid in December 2010 after years of consideration by both Heike and Nesta.
So far RH Bookings has a roster which includes Christopher Martin, Bryan Art, Hawkeye, Hezron, Anthony Cruz as well as TV personality Yanique, who currently hosts Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall on TVJ in Jamaica.
There are also plans to add artiste to RH Bookings’ portfolio but Nesta states that such a move will be done after the company is entrenched in the industry. “We have had inquiries from several other artistes but we don’t want to take on more that we can manage. Heike and I have a reputation for quality service and this new venture will be exemplified by the same modos-operandi.”
While both Heike and Nesta will continue to run their respective public relations firms, the venture into bookings will no doubt form an important part of their professional relations with the industry going forward. Both are exited at the opportunity bring their respective skill sets to another part of the entertainment market. “For years we have wanted to do something like this but the time was not right. We both have our strengths and contacts and by pooling those skill sets it can only benefit our clients and the industry on a show – says Heike Wollenweber of Axes Media.
Nesta and Heike bring many years of experience to this new venture. They both have been in the reggae music industry for over a decade representing and uncountable number of artistes and labels on the local as well as international market. According to both RH Bookings was a logical next move incorporating contacts and skills honed over so many years.
RH Bookings will be based in Kingston, Jamaica as well as Miami, Florida.
