Rihanna shares her thoughts on being pitted against Beyoncé in her latest cover story for Vogue. “They just get so excited to feast on something that’s negative,” says Rihanna.

“Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry. And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”

If you remember, Beyoncé dropped her surprise “Formation” video merely a week after Ri’s long-awaited album, ANTI, was exclusively released on Tidal, where she is a part owner. As a result, the Internet felt Bey was trying to steal Rihanna’s thunder. Of course, Bey had a reason to drop that video when she did since she would go on to perform that single the next day at the Super Bowl.

On ANTI: “I just gravitated toward the songs that were honest to where I’m at right now. It might not be some automatic record that will be Top 40. But I felt like I earned the right to do that now.”

On the lyrics to “Work”: “You get what I’m saying, but it’s not all the way perfect. Because that’s how we speak in the Caribbean.”

On Drake: “Everything he does is so amazing.”
