It was a slow week on the Billboard 200 for urban releases. Country singers, Reba McEntire and George Strait, took the no. 1 and 2 spots, respectively, but the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell, and a new album from Sean Paul made waves.

The Peas’ latest, The E.N.D., slipped two spots to no. 5 this week, selling another 41,000 copies. The group’s album continues to near platinum status, with its total at 958,000.

Then, Maxwell’s comeback album, BLACKsummers’night, fell outside the top 10 this week, landing at no. 11. It sold 30,000 copies to put its total just over 661,000.

Dancehall king, Sean Paul, returned to the charts this week with his brand new album Imperial Blaze. It places at no. 12, selling just 28,000 copies. It’s the artist’s first album since 2005’s The Trinity, which went on to sell over 1 million copies.

Fabolous’ Loso’s Way continues its descend down the charts, langing at no. 19, selling another 18,000 copies.

According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending August 23) totaled 5.70 million units, down 3.1% compared to the sum last week (5.88 million) and down 18.4% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (6.99 million).
