Extraordinary new talent Smashing has lived up to his “Realness Inna Me DNA” moniker by teaming up with his management team (How Wow Records) to launch an groundbreaking movement known as “Gimmie A Start” which will award three deserving single mothers the resources to start their own small businesses. According to Smashing he felt the need to be an agent of positive change in a very depressing time.
“I live to help others and we can clearly see where many persons have lost their means of earning during this pandemic and as a proud man I never wanted to offer any hand outs because I would not accept it so I had a meeting with my team and we decided to launch the Gimmie A Start movement. Our aim is to give three hardworking and deserving single mothers the opportunity to better provide for themselves and their families through entrepreneurship. We made the entry process very easy that way any single mother can enter all is required is a 30-45 second video sent to my Instagram account singing a few lines of my DNA single after which you must explain why you should win and then follow my page. The video will them be uploaded to my Instagram account and the three videos with the most likes wins” stated Smashing.
Born Alvin R. Wallen, Smashing grew up in Frazer’s Content a community on the outskirts of Spanish Town, in St. Catherine, Jamaica. The name Smashing is a replacement for the name Hector Frass, the name used in the early stages of his music career. Smashing’s love for the arts began at an early age. He noticed he had a connection with the arts when he was in primary school. However, it was while attending high school his passion for music started to bloom and he began testing his musical abilities. He would often show-off his performing prowess to his classmates in high school, chanting lyrics from Vybz Kartel’s songs long before the entertainer became a popular icon.
“Inna dem time deh as I can remember, a friend of mine name Leon gave me a cassette with nuff a Addi songs and me use to study dem and perform them in class while friends and I beat desk, I love the vibe which generated my interest to be more involved in music” Wallen said.
Smashing who is currently singed to USA based label HowWow Records has a slew of buzzing singles including, DNA, Friends and Last Try.
