Fans of the popular Dream Weekend party series will now get to enjoy two extra days of the event this year as organizers expand their product.

The annual series, that usually takes place on either the last week of July or the first week of August, will now take place from August 1 (Emancipation Day) to August 6 (Independence Day) in Negril. Coinciding with the fact that 2012 marks Jamaica’ 50th year of independence, the four-year old event will now showcase more parties and attraction during the holiday stretch.

Dream Weekend promoter, Kamaal Bankay intimated that his brand always thought of expanding as they continue to re-invent the brand.

Assuming everything goes well we always wanted to keep growing and expanding more and more which is what we’ve done by extending the weekend to six days,” he told the Jamaica STAR.

Last year, the Smirnoff-sponsored Dream Weekend hosted eight parties; all regarded as widely successful. This time round, it’s unknown how many more will be added. However, Bankay promises more excitement and thrills this time round.

“We always hoped to move towards what we’re doing now and we’re fortunate that this year the holidays fell in a particular way. This year we’re looking to add different kinds of events to fill out the total entertainment experience and also to revamp some of the events we currently have,” he said.

As for pricing regarding this year’s event, Bankay explained that such details would hinge on how much sponsorship theDream Weekend brand gathers over the next few months.  Additionally, Bankay hinted that event organizers are linking with various hotels in an attempt to offer packages encouraging patrons to stay over the six-night period.

Dream Weekend’s party list last year included Xtreme Wet and Wild, Twisted Spiritz as well as Daydreams. Last year’s series of events reportedly attracted many tourists and will be featured on an upcoming documentary showcasing 2011 Dream Weekend highlights, entitled Dream Destination.
