Sophia Brown Sets Her Sights On “Tall & Sexy”

(Kingston, Jamaica) With her sophomore album Catch Me If You Can due out early 2012, reggae vocalist Sophia Brown will officially release her third studio single entitled “Tall & Sexy” online this Tuesday.

The single which is a rendition of the 1960’s classic Bossa Nova hit “The Girl From Ipanema” was records recently as the second of two cover songs expected to be featured on Brown’s new album.

According to Brown the new single which is a production of her Music Mecka label features musicians Sly & Robbie on Drums and Bass respectively bringing something refreshing to the reggae scene. “The reason I chose to remake “Ipanema” was because I realized a lot of international singers like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Cher, Sammy Davis Jr, Diana Krall, Ella Fitzgerald and Madonna had all done their own versions and I felt why not do a reggae remake of the track. Once you listen to the song you will realize I changed the main line from “The Girl From Ipanema” to “The Boy From Kingston” and this was my way of personalizing it”.

The single which will be digitally distributed by Zojak Worldwide is the second such cover to be released by Brown since the start of the year. The first dubbed “Tonight Is The Night” was originally recorded by 1960’s R&B singer Betty Wright was release in September and currently on both the South Florida Reggae Charts and the Top 25 Reggae Singles Charts in Jamaica.

Brown who celebrated her birthday last month disclosed in a recent interview that the album will feature a handful of collaborations including one from “The MessengerLuciano.
