The ever-growing demand for Caribbean creative content has inspired two fast-rising content creators to launch an amazing collaborative effort that is being touted as a multifaceted piece brimmed with drama, passion, and fun. The project is dubbed “Star Boy” and will take the form of a stage play which is slated to hit the big stage at Johnny’s Place in Kingston Jamaica on October 20th, 21st and 22nd.
This collaborative effort between authors Tilsa Wright and Quera South is said to be based on the love and sports life of a famous Jamaican-born international cricketer who lived a double life which lead to heartbreak for one of his love interests. According to Wright, this stage play is a must-watch because the storyline will have you on the edge of your seats and is one that she holds close to her heart.
“Popularity is a suit worn and beneath his clothing, he usually protects his main love interest. Well typically lol. Brian caved into sweet temptations and the one tempter whose mission was to destroy his wife’s social and marital standing, ended up pregnant. Intrigued yet? Infidelity isn’t a stranger among cultures but it’s our Jamaican culture to always focus on a sport’s man positive portrayals and brush his personal life under the ‘Red Carpet” Wright dexterously stated.
Star Boy the story has already taken many formats as it was initially released as a three-part book series which then transitioned to 10 minutes animated film and is now a stage play. According to Wright, Star Boy has done well in every format it has been released thus far even earning a whopping six film festival features.
“The fans are in love with the storyline and I know many are still trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together in an attempt to identify who is the Jamaican Star Boy cricketer that we are making reference to. However, when you watch the stage play you will understand that it is more than just a superficial story because it is so dynamic that it offers great entertainment value and life lessons” Stated Wright.
Wright’s vision is to use her books, Films and Stage plays to showcase talents both locally and internationally hence her decision to Partner with young writer/producer/actress Quera South, who started her own production company (The Workshop for The Creative Arts).
Currently Wright and South are busy putting the finishing touches to their stage play (Star Boy) which is slated to captivate audiences at Johnny’s Place in Kingston Jamaica on October 20th, 21st and 22nd. Wright is also working with a few independent artists.
