Top vocalists to headline Jazz and Blues Festival

More than a month after the announcement that Grammy award-winning rock group Maroon 5 would be headlining on Friday night, January 28th, checks made to www.jamaicajazzandblues.com yesterday by The STAR showed that Ron Isley and Air Supply have been officially added.

Scheduled for January 23 to 29 at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium, Isley will be performing on Thursday, 27th and Air Supply on Saturday, 29th – closing night.

Australian super group Air Supply, which consists of Graham Russell as guitarist and singer-songwriter Russell Hitchcock as lead vocalist, caused havoc especially among the ladies, when they first graced the Jamaica Jazz stage in 2006. They later returned that year in Kingston to perform to yet, again, stellar reviews. The group had a succession of hits worldwide, including eight top ten hits in the United States in the early 1980s. They are known for songs such as The One That You Love, Sweet Dreams, Even the Nights Are Better, Making Love Out of Nothing At All. The group will be performing alongside Laura Izibor and Committed among others.

Ron Isley, an American singer who is best known as the lead singer and founding member of the family music group The Isley Brothers, will be performing alongside Diana King and Brenda Russell among others.

Isley achieved success with songs like Shout,This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You), Fight the Power and more. In addition, Isley became a sought-after hook singer for hip-hop acts such as R. Kelly, Warren G., 2Pac and UGK.
