With a smooth undeniable flow and a hunger to one day stake his claim in dancehall, Sunrize Productionz recording artist Laurence Roberts more popularly known as Trawma has delivered his first successful blow with the official breakout single “Keep Your Head Up” featuring label mate Shaneja.
The single which was release a few months ago for one reason or another slipped under the radio radar here is Jamaica but has now found new energy as Trawma gears up to hit the ground running in 2011.
In looking at the single a bit closer, connecting the dots on “Keep Your Head Up” is fairly simple as Trawma breaks down the everyday struggle of a Jamaican population engulfed in poverty, something the islands government has long failed to address and this he depicts in the Ruption directed music video.
With confidence to his right and potent lyrics to his left Trawma comes across “authentic”, highlighting not only the problems but possible solutions with lines like “Money anno elastic but mi see you stretch that, suffered couple losses thought you couldn’t get back, fingernail jet black from wringing out that wet mop, but your a champ all you needed was ya vet wrap”, sweet composition.
All in all Trawma who hails from the Christian Pen community of Portmore seems to have his way with words as almost every line on “Keep Your Head Up” is on point and for a young artist this shows his focus and commitment to his craft. With a mix-tape to his credit and a host of new tracks in the pipeline fans can catch Trawma this Friday night at the Fiction Lounge where he will be performing at the final JAYP business mixer (mingle) for 2010.
