Vybz Kartel leaves plane, No Guyana Show

vybz kartelDancehall deejay Vybz Kartel yesterday left a Caribbean Airlines plane minutes before take-off and has left the promoters of a show in Guyana in a panic.

It is understood that Kartel was on board a flight destined to take him to Guyana where he would be appearing at the Jam Zone Summer Break show along with deejay Mavado.

A source told THE WEEKEND STAR that; “Him pretend that he was ill and got them to allow him to leave the flight in a mad rush.”

When contacted last night, Kartel explained his reason for leaving the flight. “Some man a Guyana want to either kill me or kidnap me and I have nothing more to say.”

In 2009, the artiste had pulled a similar ‘no show’ for a Guyanese show after claiming that he was also receiving death threats.

It is reported that the artiste was booked to perform in Guyana but refused to board any flights out of the island.

desperate attempt

Yesterday, in a desperate attempt to prevent a reoccurrence of the deejay’s no show, representatives for the Summer Break show are said to have contacted Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange.

However, when contacted, the minister said that despite attempts she was unable to reach Kartel.

“I got a call from Guyana wanting me to get in touch with him, but I don’t know why he came off the flight. I tried earlier to get in touch with him and I am still trying,” Grange said.

Attempts by THE WEEKEND STAR to contact the promoters of the event were unsuccessful up to late last night.
