The world was given a surprise recently when incarcerated dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel was featured on Fox 5 News in a two part interview which sent social media into a frenzy. But for Fast rising dancehall artiste Jailah the spinoff buzz around his controversial Jail House Rock single came as a pleasant surprise. The single and video which depicts often taboo aspects of prison life (before and after) has been growing in popularity following the current interest in the topic.  However according to Jailah the song was released before the Vybz Kartel interview.

“My video was released before the Vybz Kartel interview however due to the fact that it speaks about prison life in detail and so much interest is currently around the topic it may seem as if it was intentional however in reality it is just coincidental as my video was out over a week before the interview went viral. As an artiste one has to be bold and creative to get and keep the attention of the public in a crowded musical space as such I will always push the boundaries and be very real” Stated Jailah.

Born Brenton Shaw, this witty artiste developed his craft while fighting to survive the harsh realities of growing up in the volatile community of Homestead in Spanish Town. Jailah credits his upbringing for his lyrical prowess while underscoring the value of his solid educational background as a past student of Johnathon Grant High, Jose Marti High and The Caribbean Maritime Institute.

“I grew up rough so me know street life however I was also a brilliant student which gives me an edge over the typical dancehall artiste because I am both book smart and street smart. As such I can  write about any topic and still be relatable to the average listener because my life journey has been so dynamic that I can write about my personal experiences as well as the experiences of people who I have come across throughout my journey suh right now Jailah well balanced” Stated Jailah.

Currently Jailah is kept busy promoting his new Jail House Rock Single as well as working on new music with producers such as Dappa Chillo Records and RCB Records..
