DANCEHALL superstar Vybz Kartel is looking for love — this time through the staging of a reality dating show entitled Teacha’s Pet.

A ‘teaser’ for the reality show hit the Internet this past week and has been creating a buzz online.

Set to debut in late September on CVM-TV and LIME Mobile TV, the show will consist of 13 episodes and will see 20 contestants vying for the love of Vybz Kartel.

LIME is on board and according to the company’s head of promotions, Tara Playfair-Scott, Teacha’s Pet will feature 10 contestants from Jamaica and 10 from around the world. All 20 ladies will live in a St Andrew house during the quest to gain his heart.

Playfair-Scott says that although the producers, Jay Will and Carlene Samuels, are seeking ladies in their mid to late twenties love has no boundaries. Therefore, females ages 18 and older may also stand a chance of being in the 20 selected. Interested females are asked to send their info whether in writing or via a videoclip to [email protected] or Facebook ‘teachaspet’. Submissions close August 5.

“In order to select the 20 contestants, all the entrants will go through a screening process. All the contestants will be required to stay at the house during the series until the elimination process. Therefore, the ladies who have a job will have to seek time off during that time… all those little things will be taken into consideration in shortlisting the 20,” Playfair-Scott told Splash in a recent telephone interview.

On the social network site Facebook, there were mixed responses. One person commented: “Wi culture gone to di dogs and di man nuh even orginal, always a try be like somebody else” while another stated: “Can’t wait for it to start”. “Teacha’s Pet is going to be the biggest reality TV show,”another commented.

Playfair-Scott also explained that the series will promise lots of excitement and will be up to the standards of those done in the United States, such as For the Love of RayJay and Flavor of Love. The too-hot-for-TV moments will also be shown on LIME TV.
