Up and coming reggae artist Eysat recently release his first reggae single entitled Dance the night away featuring his brother reggae, hip-hop artist Tafari. Since its release the song has been getting a fair amount of airplay on radio and Eysat has received some encouraging comments from radio jocks and well wishers for his effort and trendy style.
In fact, this quiet and insightful artist believes the music industry is in need of urgent attention, and is challenging his industry colleagues to exercise greater creativity with the musical and lyrical content to ensure the survival of a genre that cannot be duplicated in its purest form and sends a direct message to popular Dancehall trio Voicemail who released a single with the same title and video with the same concept as Eysats single to “up their game and come with some interesting lyrics.
Both Eysat and brother Tafari thinks that some artist really need to understand what competing is all about, “get creative and find new topics to score points. Tafari states “there is no real competition when your supposedly competitor fails to bring it, Voicemail is already a break through artist or group they should set trends
On a lighter note this is a serious issue that has been prominent in the business for a while. It is counter-productive to consistently create music with that kind of similarity, not much can be gained from this type of practice. Eysat advise to Voicemail is to do their homework whenever putting out a single and aim at being first with topics, “we welcome a good challenge but there is no fun in it if one decides to challenge us with our own material.
