Grammy award winning artists T.I. and Rihanna have been added to long list of performers at this years MTV Video Music Awards show.

The self-proclaimed “King of the South will be making his first appearance at a major awards ceremony since being arrested at last years BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta where he was busted trying to illegally purchase several lethal weapons.

Rihanna will return to the stage after her success at last years VMAs where she performed “Umbrella with boyfriend Chris Brown. This time around the R&B superstar is scheduled to perform her most recent single “Disturbia.

As previously reported, a strong line-up of R&B and Hip-Hop superstars including Weezy, who is also set to perform, Tip, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Flo Rida, and others have been announced as nominees for various categories including “Best Male, “Best Pop Video and “Best Hip-Hop Video.

Additional nominees will be announced as two new categories are released each week until the end of this month.

In typical MTV tradition, winners of each chosen category will be awarded the iconic Moon Man trophy.

Hosted by British comedian Russell Brand, the MTV VMAs will air on Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. EST
